Below is a list
of businesses, organizations, books and readings I recommend highly, and
a brief description. They have enriched my life.
Himalayan Academy is affiliated with Saiva Siddhanta Church, and
provides study programs in Hinduism, and meditation which can
culminate ultimately in Self-Realization. My study changed my life
and led to my becoming a Hindu, joining Saiva Siddhanta Church and
changing my name to Jnana Sivananda. Hinduism, or Sanatana Dharma
(Eternal Path), is the oldest religion in the world, based not on an
historic individual but on the inner realizations discovered by each
student as he studies diligently under the guidance of his qualified
guru.
A Balanced Body, An Open Heart is a wonderful massage service. Allene ("A-Lane-A" is an
energy artist. Over the past 15 years I've had hundreds of massages
of different kinds from about 12 different massage therapists, and
Babette's the best, hands down. She tailors the massage style and
content to your individual needs, is sensitive to your feelings, and
does marvelous things with your energy. You are a new person when
you leave her table. For an appointment call
503-788-7780.
"Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa
Yogananda impressed me greatly. I learned what true devotion
is.
"Achieving Vibrance" by Gay Hendricks, Ph.
D. describes a simple set of practices which can enhance your life
and the lives of those around you by increasing your "Vibrance".
It's worth the 7 minutes a day it takes. You'll see a difference
almost immediately.
"The Four Agreements" by Don
Miguel Ruiz elucidates four simple principles for a happy life
from Toltec wisdom.
Hadiki is a spiritual study group
meeting weekly, exploring the depths and potential of our beingness
and doing our part to create a world of peace, love and
joy.
Envision a Bright Future: What You Can Do is an open letter suggesting a possible change in perspective.
"A Treatise on Vedanta" by Swami Dayananda Saraswati explains consciousness, man's challenge
and the solution.
